Wellness Care

From the first visit and throughout their entire life, we’ll be there to provide the absolute best care for your pet. Our wellness care measures can maximize the fullness of that life both in terms of what your pet can do and for how long. Annual physical exams are important! Many of our younger patients have annual exams, but for aging pets or those who have medical conditions, we recommend exams every six months.

These visits include:

  • Annual physical exams: Many of our younger patients have annual exams, but for aging pets or those who have medical conditions, we recommend exams every six months.
  • Vaccinations: While dogs and cats have some of the same vaccinations like rabies and distemper, they also have different vaccination needs based on the diseases that can affect their species. Our veterinarians will work with you to set up a comprehensive vaccination schedule to protect your pet.
  • Dental exams: Just like humans, pets need to have regular dental care both at home and at the veterinary office. According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 70% of adult cats and 80% of adult dogs show symptoms of oral disease.
  • Parasite prevention: Ridding a pet and home from fleas can cost hundreds to thousands of dollars and can be nearly impossible to get rid of as flea eggs can survive for a very long time. We will work with you to set up the best flea and tick preventive plan for your pets.
Surgery

Our team is highly skilled and experienced in performing a wide variety of pet surgeries using modern techniques, cutting edge equipment and always adhering to the strictest standards of safety and care. We provide surgical options in a clean and safe environment. Most importantly, our veterinary team can closely track each animal’s vital condition during surgery. Your pet is in safe hands at Green Paws Veterinary Care!

Health Certificates

If you’re planning to travel internationally with your pet, there are a number of things to keep in mind as you prepare for the trip, including the need for a health certificate. A health certificate verifies that your pet has been examined by a USDA approved veterinarian and that the pet is in apparent good health, free of parasites and any other potentially contagious conditions. Keep in mind that most countries require a valid animal health certificate that is specific to their country for admittance. They also reserve the right to quarantine or refuse entry to any animal that does not have a valid health certificate.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment that is used to promote tissue repair and to relieve pain and inflammation. The therapeutic or cold laser emits low-level light that penetrates tissues and produces biochemical reactions within the cells. These reactions promote cell regeneration and healing and can decrease inflammation and pain. Laser therapy is used for a variety of conditions including post-operative pain management and healing; chronic wounds; traumatic injuries; sprains and strains; arthritis; and others.

Dentistry

Did you know that poor oral health can lead to infections that can spread through the bloodstream to affect major organs such as your pet’s liver, kidneys, and heart?

Just as it’s important for you to see a dentist regularly, it’s important for dogs and cats as well. Your pet’s oral health is directly connected to their overall health. Signs of dental disease include bad breath, loose, broken or missing teeth, yellow or brown teeth, red, inflamed or bleeding gums, difficulty or pain when chewing, pawing at the mouth, and excessive drooling. If you notice any of these symptoms, please contact our team and we’ll be happy to help.

We are proud that we have the most up to date equipment to treat dental disease, including digital dental x-rays. This allows us to detect if there is any disease beneath the gum line that we would not be able to see otherwise. We are often able to see undetected abscesses, broken teeth, resorbed roots, retained roots, and more thanks to dental radiographs.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture therapy is increasingly accepted and popular. While it will not cure every condition, it can work very well when indicated.

Acupuncture has been used in veterinary practice in China for thousands of years to treat ailments and as preventive medicine. It involves placing special acupuncture needles into specific points on the body to produce a healing response. We use acupuncture alone or with traditional western medicine to treat many conditions in every species of animal.

Each acupuncture point has specific actions when stimulated. In western medical terms, it helps the body to heal itself by creating physiological changes. It stimulates nerves, increases blood circulation, relieves muscle spasm, and creates the release of endorphins which control the pain mechanisms in the body and cortisol which is a natural steroid produced by the body.
